Cinnamon Roll for One

Cinnamon Roll for One

A cinnamon roll of one’s own. If this isn’t self care, I don’t know what is.

Ingredients:

  • 70g plain flour
  • 10g sugar
  • 1g baking powder
  • 1g dry yeast
  • Pinch of fine salt
  • 10g sunflower oil
  • 40g full fat milk

For the filling:

  • 2 Tbsp room temperature butter
  • 30g soft brown sugar
  • 4g ground cinnamon

For the glaze:

  • 2 Tbsp full fat milk
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Dash of vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp icing sugar
  • Extra butter for greasing

Directions:

1. In a medium bowl, gently warm the milk and oil to about 38 degrees C (like a tepid bath for a baby).
2. In a separate bowl, weigh out the flour, sugar, baking powder, yeast and salt. Whisk together.
3. Add the dry ingredients to the milk + oil.
4. Stir together until it comes together as a rough dough.
5. Knead on the countertop for about one minute (around 30 kneading motions).
6. Cover the dough and allow it to rise for about 10 minutes.
7. Meanwhile, generously grease a personal mug or ramekin with some soft butter.
8. In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon.
9. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 22 x 15cm (you don’t need to be exact).
10) Spread the room temperature butter evenly over the dough, right to the edge. Sprinkle with
cinnamon sugar evenly, all the way to the edge.
11. Cut the dough to divide it into 3 long strips. Roll one strip tightly. When you get to the end, continue the roll by adding the next strip. Finish with the third strip.
12. Place the fat cinnamon roll in the greased ramekin. Cover and allow to rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes.
13. Preheat the oven to 180.
14. Bake for about 25 minutes. Remove carefully from the oven and rest in the ramekin for 5 minutes before lifting it out onto a clean plate.
15. Stir together the glaze ingredients and pour over the cinnamon roll so that it gets into some of the crevices, and finally rests on top.
16. Enjoy warm.
