Virgin Media Television Your Data

Watching TV has changed a lot over the last few years - VODs, EPGs and XYZs (ok, we made that last one up) - You're now able to watch TV wherever you happen to be with an internet connection.

When you watch something on Virgin Media Play, we're able to use that data to highlight if something isn't working right, or make upgrades to our system that make the app better to use in the future. We can also use this data to make recommendations of new shows, based on what you've previously watched.

Virgin Media Television doesn't receive any television license revenue and relies on advertiser funding to continue providing top-quality entertainment shows for Irish viewers.

Advertising presented to you on Virgin Media Play can be based on limited data, such as the content displayed (e.g advertiser presents a particular ad on sports content), your non-precise location, your device type or which content you are (or have been) interacting with (for example, to limit the number of times an ad is presented to you).

As well as that, with your consent, we work with advertisers to make sure the ads you see on Virgin Media Play are as relevant to you as possible. We ask that you provide your email address, age, gender, county, content preferences, and optionally your Eircode as this allows us to tailor the ads that you see within your favourite shows.

You always retain control over your data within Virgin Media Play and can edit or delete your details at any time. You can manage your advertising choices by visiting our Preferences Manager. You need to be 16 or over to register for Virgin Media Play. If you are younger than 16, you will not be permitted to register.
