Korean Spicy Chicken Burger

Delicious, juicy and crispy chicken burger made in the air fryer.

Packed with bold Korean flavours, this quick and easy recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal or a weekend treat.

Ingredients

  • 400g chicken thigh (boneless, skinless)
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru (or chili flakes)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or sugar)
  • 1 cloves garlic, finely grated
  • Black pepper

For the sauce:

  • 2–3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang (or spicy gochujang sauce)
  • Squeeze of lemon juice

To serve:

  • 2 burger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Sliced cheese (optional)
  • Pickles

Method

Place the chicken in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, mix the gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, honey, garlic and black pepper. Pour over the chicken and coat well. Leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight if time allows.

Preheat the air fryer to 180°C. Cook the chicken for 12–15 minutes, until cooked through with crispy edges.

Meanwhile, mix the mayonnaise, gochujang and lemon juice to make the sauce.

Lightly toast the burger buns. Spread the sauce on the base, add lettuce, then place the chicken on top. Add cheese while the chicken is hot so it melts slightly, then add pickles.

Finish with a drizzle of sauce and the top bun.
