Chicken Won Ton Soup
Ingredients:
For the wontons:
• 200 gm minced chicken
• 3 spring onion finely chopped
• 2 tbsp soy sauce
• 2 tsp sesame oil
• 2 tsp chopped fresh ginger
• 1 garlic clove, minced
• 1 tsp cornstarch
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 15 wonton wrappers
For the Broth/ soup:
• 1litre chicken broth
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tsp sesame oil
• 1 tbsp chopped ginger
• 2 spring onion sliced
• A handful of baby bok choy
Method:
1. Make the Wontons
2. In a bowl, mix chicken, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, cornstarch, salt, and pepper until well combined.
3. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
4. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, and press edges to seal.
5.Bring the two corners together and pinch to form a traditional wonton shape.
Broth/soup:
1. In a large pot, bring chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger to a gentle boil.
2. Add the wontons and cook for 4–6 minutes, until they float and the filling is cooked through.
3. Add bok choy or spinach in the last minute of cooking.
4. Garnish with spring onions.
