TV3 GROUP RELEASE
IMMEDIATE: Thursday 3rd April, 2014.
Kate Winslet tells Ireland AM that Leo would do anything for her!
Ireland AM’s Anna Daly spoke to Kate Winslet about her upcoming movie Divergent as the Oscar-winning actress revealed that old pal Leonardo Di Caprio would do anything for her.
Kate also told Anna that she loved playing a villain but felt like a ‘granny’ when she walked on set.
Tune in to Ireland AM tomorrow (Friday 4th April) at 9.10am to catch the full interview.
Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet will appear on Ireland AM tomorrow morning (Friday 4th April) to chat to Anna Daly about her new action-adventure film Divergent. Anna couldn’t meet Kate Winslet and not mention Titanic and Leonardo Di Caprio so she quizzed the star on whether she was going to shatter our illusions of the pair being best friends. Kate quickly eased Anna’s mind on the matter.
“No, no, no, I'm not going to shatter your illusions at all, it's all true. We're really great friends, we are really, properly - at the end of a phone for one another - great friends and we always have been even since then [Titanic]. He would do anything for me, he really would.”
Despite counting Leo as one of her besties, Kate still admitted to feeling old when walking on the Divergent set as it is cast with a string of young talent including Shailene Woodley and Theo James. She joked that it was like “spot the granny” but she didn’t mind as it was “such an interesting role” for her to play. Kate also admitted that she loved playing villain Jeanine Mathews because she “liked being that poisonous”.
Anna found some common ground with Kate when she asked her if she suffers from classic “working mothers’ guilt”.
“I think you do, definitely. Obviously it is easier for me because when I do go to work it's always made very comfortable and more often than not I'm not actually leaving anybody behind, we do all go and so I'm lucky in the sense that half the time my children do come with me. They're not on-set kids though, I will tell you that. A film set is not a playground and also I can't concentrate if they're in the trailer and half the time they get bored to be honest. One thing I do hope I can pass on to my children when I feel that guilt is that I do love my job and having that sense of self-pride and respect for oneself and self-worth and those are very important values I think to share with your children and that's how I try to overcome the guilt.”
Kate also told Anna she's planning a holiday sometime soon to Ireland because her last five visits have been flying visits to Dublin.
Tune in to Ireland AM tomorrow (Friday 4th April) at 9.10am to catch the full interview.
‘Divergent’ will be released in Irish cinemas tomorrow, Friday 4th April.
