TV3 will next month air one of the most hotly-anticipated US drama series of the year. Crisis, starring Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney, is an action-packed, thrilling, drama series centring on the ambush of a school bus from an elite private school in Washington DC. The students on the bus, children of the country’s most powerful people, including the President, are held ransom igniting an international crisis.

There are 13 hour-long episodes in the first series of Crisis, which will air in Ireland on TV3 in just one month after its premiere in the US. When the hit show premiered in the US, 6.5 million viewers tuned in.

The first episode sees the most powerful people in the world brought to their knees with a major threat hanging over the people they hold most dear. A field day trip for the students of Ballard High, a school that educates the children of Washington, D.C.'s elite, top-of-their-industry CEOs, international diplomats, political power players, even the President's son, turns into chaos when the school bus is ambushed on a secluded rural road.

Now, with some of the country's most powerful parents at the mercy of one vengeful mastermind, the question arises: How far would they go and what would they become to ensure their child's safe return?

Commenting on the arrival of Crisis to Irish TV screens, Jeff Ford, TV3 Group Director of Content, said: “There’s a real appetite for great drama in Ireland. In recent times we’ve seen some really slick drama series come from the US and Crisis is no exception. It has all the visual effects of what could be a Hollywood blockbuster and a gripping plot that will leave viewers hungry for more. Airing Crisis on TV3 as close as we possibly can to the US airing is paramount for us. With recognisable faces like Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney, Crisis is not to be missed.”

Steve Cornish, Managing Director and Senior Vice President of Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, said: “Crisis has all the elements for a tense and dramatic roller-coaster ride, with plenty of exciting twists and turns. The pilot, directed by Patriot Games and Salt helmer Phillip Noyce will blow audiences away and keep them guessing, long after the credits roll.”

TV3 has yet to announce a TX date for Crisis but the station has confirmed that it will air next month (April).
