TV3 GROUP RELEASE
IMMEDIATE: Tuesday 9th October 2012
3e is already the no.1. digital only channel in the country, with a bigger share of viewing than Sky1, E4, Sky Living and 200+ other digital channels
Irish audiences will have the luxury of another new Irish station when the Digital Switch Over occurs on October 24th 2012
Interviews are available on request
Ireland’s number one digital only channel is set to reap the benefits of the Digital Switchover when it will become available to approximately 200,000 more homes across the country on October 24th.
3e already has a strong presence on Irish televisions and has established itself as the number one digital only channel in the country, with a bigger share of viewing than Sky1, E4, Sky Living and 200+ other digital channels. But because 3e is only available on digital, up until now viewers using an analog system could not view the channel.
But from October 24th, 200,000 more homes can potentially tune in to 3e to view the best shows from around the world, and around the country including 3e’s flagship shows, fyi. and Uploaded, Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show, The Graham Norton Show, UEFA Europa League, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, 30 Rock and Conan to name but a few!
fyi. News Anchor Caroline Twohig, who has become known as the face of 3e, describes what the channel has to offer its new viewers: “3e mixes the best homemade content from TV3 with some of the funniest shows from abroad, not to mention 3e’s own produced news show, fyi. We will never be TV3 or RTE and I think younger audiences appreciate that, we offer an alternative with fresh new content and off the wall comedy."
Director of Broadcasting, Niall Cogley, said: “We are delighted that the magic of 3e will now be available in all Irish homes whether their receivers are cable, satellite or terrestrial. The rapidly growing popularity of the channel reflects the energy and resources that we have invested over the last couple of years to create such a strong schedule so it’s great that everyone in Ireland can now see it”.
