The extremely successful TV3 series, Ireland’s Animal A&E, has been acquired by the popular UK television station, Discovery Channel

Ireland’s Animal A&E proved to be a hugely popular series attracting over 1.7 million viewers 14 episodes

Presenters Michael Hayes and Andrea Hayes and the show’s producer Andrew Byrne are available for interview


TV3 is delighted to announce that the TV3 series, Ireland’s Animal A&E, has been acquired by the popular UK television station, Discovery Channel. The acquisition completes a recent string of successes for TV3 Productions which made the series, having recently sold Ireland’s Crime Capitals to Australia, Nick’s Bistro to New Zealand and Bullied To Death: The Tragedy of Phoebe Prince across Europe.

Ireland’s Animal A&E premiered on TV3 at the beginning of the 2010 season and proved to be a hugely popular series attracting over 1.7 million viewers.. Discovery Channel has acquired UK rights to broadcast 14 episodes.

Presented by Michael Hayes and Andrea Hayes, Ireland’s Animal A&E documents the daily routine of some of Ireland’s busiest Veterinary Clinics as TV3 cameras go behind the scenes with the vets on call and follow the challenges of their everyday lives. The series is filmed on location at UCD Veterinary School, on the road with the ISPCA and at Bray Veterinary Clinic.

Ben Frow, Director of Programming TV3 said: “This deal is both an editorial and a commercial success. It shows that TV3 makes programming of an international standard, and commercially it funds TV3 Productions to increase its output.”

Ireland’s Animal A&E Series Producer/ Director Andrew Byrne said: “I am thrilled and delighted with the success of Ireland’s Animal A&E to date, which has been a huge ratings winner for TV3 Productions and seems to have struck a chord with our viewers. It is great news to hear that the series has been acquired in the UK, which is a testament to the hard work of the rescue teams, hospital staff and production crew.”
