TV3 GROUP RELEASE
IMMEDIATE: Tuesday 7th October, 2014
Angeline takes over the kitchen in series finale of ‘Home Cooks’.
‘Angeline’s Home Cooks’, sponsored by Safefood and Tesco,is a whole new take on cookery shows.
In the final episode of the series, presenter Angeline Ball takes the reigns in the kitchen alongside home cook Cyrilla O’Carroll to teach the non-cooks a thing or two!
Interviews with home cooks and non-cooks available on request.
The ‘Angeline’s Home Cooks’ series finale airs Thursday 9th October at 8.30pm on TV3.
Angeline’s Home Cooks returns with the sixth and final episode, bringing cooking back to basics but this week there’s a twist. Presenter Angeline Ball is taking over the kitchen!
In each previous episode, there were two home cooks who shared their recipes with two non-cooks, people who have never learnt the basics, who have confessed to burning down kitchens and poisoning family members – this week Angeline is a home cook, sharing her dish of Gnocchi & Broccoli in a Crème Fraiche & Parmesan Sauce!
Angeline chose to cook this Gnocchi dish as it is a family favourite. When her kids come in from school and smell the gnocchi cooking, it is always met with excitement. This dish has affectionately become known as "a hug in a bowl" and is a great remedy for cold and dreary winter nights.
Our second home cook this week is Cyrilla O'Carroll who is originally from Kerala in India. The mother of three lives in Wicklow with her partner Colm. Cyrilla’s dish is her own Chicken Curry which family and friends believe is better than any restaurant. The recipe has been handed down through her family for generations and was given to her by her grandmother. However, Cyrilla has altered the dish slightly for the Irish pallet.
With two very different dishes this week, the non-cooks have quite the task on their hands!
Our first non-cook this week is beauty therapist Celena Slevin from Walkinstown. Celena lives with her two children, Aimee and Leanne, and her partner Karl who does most of the cooking. She would love to be able to help out more in the kitchen but her main problem is that she has no patience when it comes to cooking .She once got fed up waiting for chicken to cook in the oven, so she put it in the microwave, and almost poisoned her family! She did the same with a cake and the microwave went on fire.
Our second non-cook Sile Horan has had a few less kitchen disasters however she is sick of serving up the same few basic dishes that she has mastered. Yoga teacher Sile lives with her husband Danny and four children, Daniel, Luke, Aoife and Roisin, in Dublin.
She would like to learn about ingredients and hopes to master a few more dishes to add to her repertoire. Sile says she often gets funny looks from friends and family when she puts dinner on the table. She once did a cookery course, when the kids were younger, and one of them offered her their pocket money to do another course.
