24 Hours to Kill, Episode 3 airs Monday 20th January 2014 at 9pm on TV3.

The fourth series of 24 Hours to Kill continues on TV3 this Monday night with the horrific story behind the senseless murder of Brian Mulvaney. The third episode of the compelling documentary series looks at serial attacker Brian Willoughby’s history of psychological issues which led him down a violent path.

Brian Willoughby was diagnosed with ADD as a teenager but at this point it was too late for treatment to be effective. By the time he reached his mid to late teens, he had become deranged and he was obsessed with violent films. Willoughby began attacking his mother and in 1998 he carried out two separate attacks on men he thought were homosexuals. One victim lost an eye while the other was in need of 100 stitches.

In March 2000, Brian Willoughby and a group of teenagers set upon Brian Mulvaney outside a house party in an affluent Dublin suburb. Intent on a path of destruction and out on bail at the time, Willoughby initiated the senseless and savage attack. He danced and jumped on the victims head, shouting "this is carnage boys, this is deadly". Brian Mulvaney was found unconscious and naked from the waist up, he died shortly afterwards at Tallaght Hospital.

With reconstructed footage of the attack and commentary from crime reporters, as well as criminologist John O’Keeffe and Detective Sergeant Joe McLoughlin, 24 Hours to Kill gives an insight into Brian Mulvaney’s final hours and the events that led to his death.

24 Hours to Kill, Episode 3 airs Monday 20th January 2014 at 9pm on TV3.
