TV3 gets the first reaction on the release of convicted rapist Larry Murphy

After serving 10 years in prison, TV3 will be live with his family to get their reaction

On the day that convicted rapist Larry Murphy is released from prison, TV3’s Alan Cantwell speaks with his family and discusses the crimes of Larry Murphy in a one off special for TV3.

10 years ago, Larry Murphy, a carpenter from Baltinglass in Co. Wicklow, was convicted of the violent abduction and repeated rape of a Carlow woman in February 2000. Despite being housed in Arbour Hill prison, which provides state-of the-art rehabilitation programmes for sex offenders, Murphy refused to undertake any rehabilitation programmes thought-out his stay in jail. Murphy has also been named as a prime suspect in the disappearances of Jo Jo Dullard (21), Deirdre Jacob (18) and Annie McCarrick (26).

Under the Sex Offenders Act 2001, Murphy must give the Garda Siochana the address that he will live at after his release, but he does not have to sign in at any Garda station for the first seven days after his release. So what will happen? Where will he go?
