This is VERY exciting!
German grocery giant Lidl could be about to open their very first pub - and it will be in Dublin!
The popular chain is looking into the old Belgard Inn site, which it bought five years ago with the development of a new store in mind.
Lidl bought the site for a reported €2.6million, and planning permission to build a new store on the site was given the green light by South Dublin County Council last year.
It says in the proposed development section of the application:
"In addition the development includes four retail units (adaptable for a variety of commercial uses) and a public house."
A Lidl spokesperson told RSVP Live : "Lidl have confirmed there will be a hospitality unit on site.
"There's no confirmation yet if it will be a pub or a restaurant, but there will be a hospitality unit."
