Met Éireann have confirmed the news we've ALL been dreading13th Aug 18 | News
After endless weeks of hot and dry weather, the week ahead looks set to be a complete washout with Met Eireann predicting "heavy showers" of rain.
The national forecaster has forecast rain and wind right through until the weekend, however it will remain humid as temperatures will hold between 18 and 21 degrees celcius.
TONIGHT - MONDAY 13TH AUGUST
Tonight will be mainly dry but showery rain will develop in the northwest and along the west coast by morning. Lowest temperatures will range between 15 degrees in the west and 12 degrees in the east with light to moderate westerly winds becoming southwesterly by morning.
TOMORROW - TUESDAY 14TH AUGUST
Tomorrow, Tuesday, in the northwest and along the west coast rain and drizzle will continue, elsewhere there will be a good deal of dry weather with sunny spells best in the south and southeast. Highest temperatures will be 17 or 18 degrees in the west and northwest where rain lingers, but are expected to reach between 20 and 23 degrees elsewhere. Winds will be moderate to fresh southwesterly.
Tuesday night will see that same rain bearing front lingering along the west and northwest coast while the rest of the country remains largely dry. Lowest temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees with moderate southerly winds.
On Wednesday the rain in the western half of the country will turn heavy during the morning. The rain is then expected to extend eastwards through the day bringing a steady fall of rain across the country. The rain will clear to showers on Wednesday evening. Highest temperatures between 17 and 21 degrees early in the day, with moderate to fresh southerly winds veering southwesterly with the clearing rain and introducing cooler, fresher conditions.
Thursday looks to be a cooler day with temperatures down a degree or two in the east and south in particular. There'll be showers in the west from early on, becoming widespread during the afternoon. The best of the sunny spells will be in the southeast. Winds will be moderate westerly.
Friday is currently looking to be a similar day although with temperatures on the rise again to values more typical for the time of year. Winds will be moderate to fresh southwesterly with scattered showers in the afternoon.
Current indications suggest the weather will continue unsettled with showers at times through the weekend with temperatures typical for the time of year.
