This is very unusual for us...

Met Eireann have issued a new weather warning as Ireland suffers from drought conditions following weeks of high temperatures.

The Status Yellow nationwide alert was published this morning and remains in place until Wednesday at 3pm

A forecaster said:

"There will only be small amounts of rainfall between now and Thursday. No major reduction in soil moisture deficits are expected as evapotranspiration rates remain high.

This advisory will be next updated on Wednesday, July 18, 2018."

However, it looks like the very good weather will be making a return next weekend with a signal for a lot of warm and dry conditions, the forecaster explained:

"It will be mostly dry and getting warmer again. Highs of 21 to 27 degrees."
