School evacuated and roads closed due to HUGE factory fire

Emergency services have been tackling the large blaze. 

Emergency services are currently battling a large fire at a fish processing factory in the Co Cork village of Baltimore.

Large plumes of black smoke can be seen as firefighters tackle the blaze.

The Irish Seafood Company building has been evacuated Cork County Fire Service has said that everyone has been accounted for with no casualties reported.

They said:

“There has been a fire at the Irish Seafood Company building in Baltimore.

All persons are accounted for and there are no casualties. Units from Skibbereen, Skull and Bantry are in attendance and the blaze is under control.”

Maura Collins, Principle of Rath National School, told Patricia Messinger on C103’s Cork Today:

“There was no danger of fire in the school, it was just the fumes which are quite toxic and are increasingly getting worse.

On health and safety grounds, the board of management decided to evaluate the children out of here.

Everyone has been collected and everyone is safe.”
