Gardaí have issued an urgent warning to parents to be aware of their children's behaviour after a life-threatening activity was spotted taking place in Edenderry over the weekend.

The frightening craze involves youngsters attempting to hold their breath for as long as possible with their heads wrapped in cling-film. The urgent warning was issued after a number of teenagers were spotted behind supermarkets taking part in the activity.

Crime Prevention Officer, Sgt. Graham Kavanagh said:

"Parents need to inform their children about such activities before one of them gets seriously injured or dies due to suffocation."
