Lidl Ireland issues update on store that was looted in Tallaght

Lidl Ireland has revealed that employees in it's Fortunestown branch in Dublin have been redeployed to other stores after the building was looted and demolished on Friday night.

Six people appeared before Dublin District Court on Saturday morning charged with a number of offences after a stolen digger was used to bulldoze into the side of the store. A safe was also stolen from the premises.

Lidl have today issued a statement:

"A meeting was held today with our team from Fortunestown. We can confirm that each of the 30 team members will be redeployed to other stores in the area. We will
not have the criminal actions of others impact on the livelihood of our hard working team.

On behalf of the Store Manager Ruth and her team we would like to thank everyone for their kind words in the aftermath of this incident. The team are genuinely blown away by the swell of support from, not just the community that they serve daily, but from right around the country."
