Food Safety Authority issues URGENT product recall due to listeria

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland have issued an urgent product recall of a batch of Sheridans Cheesemongers Brie de Meaux due to a listeria detecion.

Sheridan Cheesemongers Ltd. is recalling batches of Brie de Meaux cheese that were cut in their premises and distributed in Ireland.

This is due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in the batch with the approval number IE 1949 and a ‘use-by’ date of 19.11.17. 

Listeria is a germ that can be present in raw milk and foods made from raw milk. The bacteria can primarily affect pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. It can cause diarrhoea, fever, headache and muscle pain in a very short period.
