Does your back garden need an update?

30th May 16 | Xpose Magazine

Indoors/outdoors, it’s all mixed up this season as interiors trends make their way outside for spontaneous al fresco dining. XPOSÉ Magazine have your guide to creating the ebst garden on the block

That balmy summer evening of your dreams has finally arrived. The barbecue is fired up, the rosé is chilling and the party people are on their way. Wait...your backyard is full of wheelie bins and plastic swing sets. How are you going to get it looking suitably chic in a hurry so that your summer outdoor entertaining is the talk of the neighbourhood for all the right reasons?  Luckily plenty of trends involve using home accessories that can be indoor/outdoor. Now we’re not saying shift the entire contents of your living room out into the back garden, but there are certainly some bits and pieces you can repurpose around the house.

Lanterns instantly give a festive air to an outdoor space. There’s something magical about them–and given our weather, a good hurricane lantern will ensure a breeze doesn’t leave your outdoor dinner party in darkness. Group them either side of your fireplace when the summer season ends, to add a twinkle to romantic nights in by the fire.

Tales of the Orient

Even if you haven’t gone further afield than your nearest TK Maxx, you can still make your garden look like you picked up the furnishings in an exotic souk as you trekked around the world. Ethnic fabrics, animals and a strategically-placed Buddha statue give you an air of being well-travelled.
