The Irish priest really impressed the Britain’s Got Talent judges on tonight’s show

Britain’s Got Talent returned to our screens tonight for the second show of the new series and it was jam packed with showstopping auditions.

And Ireland was represented on the BGT stage in tonight’s episode by parish priest Father Ray Kelly.

The Meath priest decided to audition for the show when a video of him singing ‘Hallelujah’ while officiating at Chris and Leah O’Kane’s wedding in Oldcastle went viral back in 2014.

Ray gave an emotional performance of REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ for his audition and even received a standing ovation from music mogul Simon Cowell.

Cowell told Ray: “This is one of my favourite ever auditions ever. Really. I really mean that. I think your voice is beautiful, I love the version of the song, This was everything we’ve been waiting for genuinely. I absolutely loved it.”
