Emmerdale might have been crowned best soap at the Inside Soap Awards last night but a rival soap stole their limelight…

The annual Inside Soap Awards took place at London’s Hippodrome Casino on Monday night and all the stars were out in force to support their shows. Emmerdale took home the gong for best soap for the second year running and ended up with four trophies at the end of the night, tying with Coronation Street.

Despite winning best soap, it was the residents of Walford that were the real winners of the night taking home five awards, including two of the most coveted prizes, best actor for Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) and best actress for Lacey Turner (Stacey Fowler).

Other big winners on the night include Corrie heartthrob Shayne Ward, who scored a hat-trick of best newcomer awards so far this year when he took home the prize for best newcomer last night.

Amanda Clapham

Emmerdale’s Amelia Flanagan (April Windsor) picked up the award for best young actor for the third time in a row last night. Current star of Strictly and Walford resident, Tameka Empson (Kim Fox-Hubbard) won the award for funniest female for the 5th time.

Jaqueline Jossa

Connor McIntyre who plays the notorious Pat Phelan in Corrie was awarded the gong for best bad boy and EastEnders Jaqueline Jossa was voted the sexiest female.
