Get the Kids Baking Cupcakes

Ingredients for the cupcakes:

  • 115g Unsalted Butter at room temperature
  • 165g Caster Sugar
  • 165g Plain Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Dr.Oetker Baking Powder
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2tsp Dr.Oetker Vanilla Extract

To Decorate:

  • Oetker Vanilla Buttercream Style Icing x2
  • Oetker Ultimate Sprinkle mix Unicorn Confetti
  • Oetker Gel Food Color Gels Orange, Green, Yellow, Purple, Red and Blue
  • NEW Dr.Oetker Unicorn Wafer Placements
  • NEW Dr.Oetker Dinosaur Wafer Placements

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C Fan, 350°F, Gas Mark 4). Line a deep cupcake tin with Dr.Oetker Baking Cases. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and the sugar until pale, and fluffy in texture.
  2. Gradually whisk in the eggs and Natural Vanilla Extract then sift the Flour, Salt and Baking Powder on top. Using a large metal spoon, carefully fold the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  3. Spoon mixture equally into 12 Baking Cases and bake on the middle shelf in the oven for 20-22 minutes until risen and just firm to the touch. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
  4. Divide the Dr.Oetker Vanilla Buttercream into six separate bowls, add a few drops of the Gel Food Colour one colour into each bowl and stir until the colour is evenly mixed.(Red, green, yellow, purple, blue, orange)
  5. Roll out a sheet of cling film. Spoon a line of each colour of buttercream onto the cling film in a row. Roll the cling film into a sausage, cut off the excess at the end and place into a piping bag with a star nozzle.
  6. Pipe a swirl of buttercream on the top of each cupcake and top with Dr Oetker Unicorn and Dinosaur wafer placements and sprinkle with Dr.Oetker Sprinkles.
