Hollywood stars such as Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin have hit headlines recently, facing charges of cheating the university admissions process on behalf of their children.
And although this may be an extreme case, it comes as no surprise, as many parents seem to be going to greater lengths these days to boost their children's academic sucess.
We all want the best for our children, however, have we taken it a step too far?
Dr Mary O'Kane joined us earlier to tell us how overprotective parents could be doing more harm than good, and to share her advice on how to teach teenagers independence.
