Chicken combines very well with fruit and here I’ve added dried apricots and apple as well as garam masala for added flavour - garam masala is an aromatic mixture of ground spices used in many Indian dishes . Combining savoury foods like chicken with fruit gives it a hint of natural sweetness that appeals to babies .
INGREDIENTS:
1 tbsp olive oil
50g onion, chopped
50g apple, peeled , cored and chopped
75g carrot, peeled and diced
1 clove garlic, crushed
4 ready to eat dried apricots, chopped
1 chicken breast, diced
½ tsp garam masala
1 x 400g can chopped tomatoes
100 ml water
METHOD:
Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the onion, apple, carrot , squash , garlic and apricots and cook, stirring for 2 minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients, bring up to the boil, cover with a lid and simmer for 15 minutes.
Blend to the desired consistency.
A good way to introduce texture to your baby would be to blend half of this, finely chop the remainder and then stir the two together.
