Be a Hero for Children?s Hospice Week 2016 and LauraLynn

TV3 stars Elaine Crowley, Alan Hughes, Ray Foley and Cassie Stokes, along with Denise McCormick from Red Rock, became superheroes for the day to help support the launch Children’s Hospice Week (23rd – 29th May) 2016 in aid of LauraLynn.

Children’s Hospice Week focuses on the incredible little heroes, the seriously ill children and their families, cared for by the LauraLynn team. There are approximately 4000 children living with a life-limiting condition in Ireland, and each year about 350 of these children die.

This year Ireland AM presenter Alan Hughes, Midday presenter Elaine Crowley, Xposé presenter Cassie Stokes, The Seven O’Clock Show presenter Ray Foley and Weekend AM presenter Tommy Martin will use their superhero powers to compete in a Wipeout-style  inflatable obstacle course challenge on Thursday May 26th to raise funds for the charity, the only children’s hospice in the State.

Throughout the week TV3 viewers will be asked to get behind the presenter they want to support. So whether mad about Alan, enamored of Elaine, crazy for Cassie, raving about Ray or taken with Tommy, all of the support goes to LauraLynn and raises much needed funds for the children’s hospice.

Sharon Morrow, LauraLynn Chief Executive said “At LauraLynn we care for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, by providing high quality transitional care, home support, respite, crisis and end-of-life care. Our holistic approach ensures that the whole family is supported, allowing parents to have time to be a ‘Mum and Dad’ rather than full-time carers.

“Our goal is to support more families across Ireland and one of the most effective ways for us to deliver that vital care and support is through the continued development of our integrated family support such as our ‘at home’ hospice care programme.

“I’d like to personally thank TV3 for their continued support. Last year they raised over €1 million which enabled us to extended our family supports such as funding a play specialist and we hope that all their many viewers get behind Alan, Elaine,Cassie, Ray and Tommy and once again support Children’s Hospice Week 2016.”

Victoria Quinn, Head of Daytime TV3 said: “We are thrilled to be able to support LauraLynn and Children’s Hospice Week. LauraLynn cares for children with life-limiting conditions and we hope that our viewers will once again get behind our team of presenters to show their support”.

LauraLynn is Ireland’s only Children’s Hospice providing pediatric palliative care in Ireland. LauraLynn cares for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families,
